START offers a ‘one to one’ casework service to refugees and asylum seekers and works in partnership with both individuals and families. The service is holistic and looks to utilise the strengths and skills of service users both past and present.
The support offered depends on the individuals unique circumstances and might include registering with a Doctor, opening a bank account, finding a playgroup, applying for training courses, getting appropriate benefits advice, looking for work and finding somewhere secure and safe to live.
START casework promotes all aspects of integration, working alongside service users and strengthening connections with communities in the city.
Access to START casework and the RHSS service is through referral. Referrals can be made directly by the individual seeking support or by referring agencies.
If you need help completing the referral form, Please contact START directly.
Our casework service is restricted to individuals who are aged 18 years and over. We can not give direct financial and debt advice, any immigration advice nor advise on any legal issues. Our support in these cases is about accessing appropriate advice and referring to appropriate organisations.
